My TOP TEN Nursery Room Picks from The Baby Cubby and a TIP!
Setting up your baby’s nursery, especially when it’s your first child, is an exciting and often daunting process for parents. Not only do you have to decide on furniture, decor and a theme, you also need to think practically and consider the safety of the products you choose. Most baby products these days, created by reputable brands and sold by legitimate retailers like The Baby Cubby, have been subjected to strict testing for safety and toxicity by CPC, CPSIA and similar regulatory commissions. I recommend buying products new or used, that you know the age of, the name brand of and country of origin so that you can do your research and rest with peace of mind that the products are safe for your baby.
My Nursery Decor TIP for new parents!
My TIP for new parents embarking on “mission baby nursery” is to not go off the deep end with the super infant and baby themed items. Your child will grow fast and you’ll not want to find out at age 2 years that you need to redecorate all over again because your baby isn’t a baby anymore. I prefer to choose more mature and versatile themes that can grow with your child through age 5 or 6 when it might finally be time for that “big kid” room upgrade, around the same time they’ll be moving from crib and/or toddler bed into a twin mattress.
With that being said, below are my TOP TEN Nursery Room Must-Haves!
Safe Crib Mattress
Naturepedic’s 2 Stage Mattress is made from organic cotton and has been tested for fire safety and chemical emissions.
A quality crib is of utmost importance if your plan is to save this crib for future babies and possibly even your baby’s future babies.
Crib Sheets Galore!
Think you can get by with that one crib sheet that came with your “bed in a bag” crib set? Nope. Think again! From pee and poop to throw up and drool, you will need extra crib sheets. I recommend at least 2 or 3.
A crib blanket or crib quilt is another item meant to be saved for future generations or at the very least for use as a keepsake. The Baby Cubby has some amazing Petit Pehr quilts and blankets to choose from!
If rocking your baby in their room is your thing, you’ll want a comfy, cozy and generously sized blanket generously sized to accommodate you both. You likely won’t be reaching for the crib quilt. Saranoni is an amazing brand with sizes from mini through adult. You’ll fall in love with the plush feel and lux materials.
Whether you cloth diaper or use disposables, a diaper pail is a nursery room staple. Ubbi’s rubber coated steel diaper pails trap odors and are available in modern colors and styles.
Even before they’re old enough to play with toys you’ll own enough to open your own toy store. Storage bins and baskets are a great way to keep toys where they belong and they make clean up easy when your little one’s old enough to learn to do it themselves.
Shelves as Decor!
I am absolutely in love with these Babyletto Spruce Tree Bookcases! These not only look adorable, they serve as functional decor that your child won’t outgrow as quickly. Pair with some of your favorite books and toys and your child’s new room will be lookin’ good!
I couldn’t resist sharing these! Again, items that will outlive the baby years, these Fauxidermy Stuffed Animal Mounts are absolutely adorable and we all know how much kids love animals.
Humidifier’s are also a must-have! Don’t get caught being told by the on call doctor at midnight that you need a humidifier so that your sick baby can breathe and sleep more easily. Crane is among the best on the market and if you don’t have one on your Baby Shower Registry then you should definitely invest in one before the baby arrives.
The above, although clearly not a must-have for everyone, were definitely some of my favorites given the choice, from The Baby Cubby. If you like what you see then I recommend you head over and shop. The Baby Cubby offers 10% off when you join their mailing list and they ship FREE in the USA when your order totals $49 or more!
