5 Unrelated Things? Okay here goes!

My friend Jenny at Conscientious Confusion posted today about 5 Unrelated Things, because she’s in a blogging rut.  Aren’t we all?  I mean I am in fact, a cloth diapering blogger, who no longer has babies in cloth diapers.  Can you get into any more of a rut than that?  So with her invitation to grab her graphic and also blog about FIVE unrelated things, I accepted the challenge.  Here goes!5 unrelated things, blogging, ideas

1.  Yoga.  I’m a month in to practicing (I’ve been into Yoga before but it’s been years) and I couldn’t be happier.  Such a peaceful, empowering, relaxing and self-centered practice.  I say self-centered in a good way.  As a mom, being somewhere, out of my house, without my kids, phone on silent..just me.  Amazingly, despite having too much on my plate, I am unable to focus on anything but me and yoga when I am at the studio in the midst of a class.  I love it.

2.  Infomercials?  This is sort of related to number 1.  I’m in the midst of dedicating myself to improving my health, well-being and strength.  I don’t have cable tv but I can’t escape all the people becoming Beach Body coaches or doing to P90X, T25 and Shakeology.  It wasn’t until my sister-in-law mentioned how great the T25 was that I decided to try it.  Twenty-five minutes a day is SO my style.  By the time I start to get bored, tired or try to talk myself out of completing each day’s workout, it’s almost over-so I finish it!  I’m two weeks into my T25 and loving it.

Weight-loss wise…I am having to change my perception of progress.  I’ve lot a few pounds but I see results I have never expected.  Not relying on the scale to tell me there’s been progress is hard.

3.  Raising a tween.  I don’t want to go in to too much detail but my daughter is on my mind A LOT.  She’s 10yrs old and in public school.  No smartphone, yet the majority of her classmates have them.  I feel ill equipped to relate and my husband and I are faced weekly with new challenges, new scenarios and new parenting discoveries.  We’re more confident than ever that we’re on the right track but it’s certainly disheartening to see how pre-maturely mature today’s youth are becoming.

4.  Cloth diapers.  So many changes in this industry and community.  I am forever feeling like the swing vote on the television show Survivor.  There are sides and I like being on both, that my friends, is a dilemma.

5.  New old cars.  This week my very deserving husband got a new-old car.  He purchased an old Jeep Wrangler and I couldn’t be more excited for him.  For years he has put our family’s needs first and has driven a real junker, a very embarrassing one.  Despite the pressure to conform and drive a huge truck, whether you can afford it or not, he’s been able to hold out.  He’s always wanted a Jeep and I am thrilled to death each time I see the kid-like grin on his face while driving his “new-old” car.

So…these are my FIVE Unrelated Things.  I had fun sharing them.  If you’re a blogger in a writing rut, I encourage you to share and write about this too!  :)
