B.O.N.  Nourishing Skin Oil

As a person who has battled with oily skin her whole life, oil is pretty much the last thing on earth I’d think to treat my skin with.  Scrub, scrub, scrub-exfoliating seems to be what I was taught (by whom I have no idea) and that was how I thought I’d best keep my oily sensitive skin under control and blemish free.

The issue with over-exfoliating, which I am now finding out years and years late, is that your skin can respond by creating more oil leading to even more skin issues.

So when I was approached to review the B.O.N. Nourishing Skin Oil I was excited but also a little nervous.  Even the mildest most natural makeup concealer, facial wash or skin lotions seem to cause me painful blemishes.  One one hand that stinks, on the other hand I have gone years without having to know the expense of using fancy skincare products.

Three reasons I knew I should give B.O.N. a try

  1. I live in Florida and get WAY more sun exposure  than I need to.  At 36 I already have age spots on my chest and I know repeat tanning leads to premature aging but it’s hard to stay out of the sun when you live here!
  2. I have tattoos.  They require care and moisturizing, especially after a long weekend at the beach or on the boat.
  3. If there were any words to describe my skin I would say “stressed” pretty much sums it up.  Since B.O.N. is designed for stressed skin I decided I’d put it to the test.

Things that surprised me about B.O.N.

My skin felt super duper soft.  At first I thought, “this is too oily” but then my skin quickly absorbed the much needed moisture and I was left with a soft “glowing” look.  After applying daily I noticed the most difference in my chest.  While before and after pictures are often questioned because of lighting, I feel that my chest is definitely softer and healthier feeling, even though not much of a difference is noticeable.  The dark brown age spots seems a lit lighter but that can vary naturally depending on my tan and recent sun exposure.

Overall I am really happy with B.O.N. Oil.  I was pleasantly surprised by how long even the smaller sample size is lasting.  I love the spray applicator and the fragrance is also very appealing and calming.
