A Naturalist Approach to Teething

Guest Contribution by Jenn Sanders

I knew from the moment that I got a positive on that very first pregnancy test, that I wanted to love, nurture and take care of that tiny little baby growing inside of me like my own mother took care of me. My mom had a very naturalist approach to parenting. She didn’t understand why anyone, much less parents, would want to put something into their body that wasn’t natural, and that’s probably why she chose baltic amber.

In her mind, anything that couldn’t be grown from the ground or made from nature in some way was poison to the body and soul, and she didn’t want that for her children. While I’m not as natural as my mother was and still is, I did retain a lot of the same beliefs and ideals about how children should be taken care of. That’s why I had no medications during pregnancy, consumed the best fruits and veggies grown from my backyard garden, and listened to my own growing “mother’s intuition”.

When I had my first baby, I remember being so full of joy and affection. The first few months were filled with a warm glow to everything. I felt that nothing could go wrong and I was a natural at this whole parenting thing. It wasn’t until my daughter entered the teething phase that I was thrown for my first loop. I didn’t know what to do. She was only three months old, much too young for any sort of OTC medication and she didn’t have the motor skills to use chewing toys.

I asked my mom what she would do if this were her and she told me it was simple, amber stones. I had a very vague memory of my mom putting an amber teething necklace on myself that resembled amber and so I knew that what she was suggesting was a tried and true method to pain relief. I quickly purchased a necklace from BalticWonder.com/ and while I waited, did some research.

Baltic amber is found in regions surrounding the Baltic sea. Countries surrounding this region have used amber stones for centuries due to its anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant rich oils. Amber can cure a multitude of ailments such as headaches, joint and muscle inflammation, and teething; while also protecting you against common colds.

When worn, your body acts as a furnace and heats the bead, allowing for the healing rich oils to seep through the bead’s surface and into your bloodstream. Once it’s absorbed, it won’t be long until you start feeling it’s healing effects.

I put it on my daughter’s ankle immediately to reduce the risk of choking and called my mom to let her know that I had taken her advice and that I was hoping it would help us. We hadn’t slept in weeks, my daughter’s gums were so inflamed that there was no way she wasn’t hurting, and I just wanted to make everything right again. My mom told me to give it a few days and I would be pleasantly surprised at my daughter’s change in symptoms.

It didn’t even take a few days. By the second night she slept through the entire night and I even had to wake her up in the morning to feed her. I took a look inside her mouth and noticed that her gum inflammation had reduced significantly. By the end of our first week, I had my happy, smiley daughter back. I called my mom and rejoiced with her. My mother’s advice has always been Mother Nature, and after seeing Mother Nature in action, why wouldn’t it be? If you’re wondering what Baltic amber can do for you and your family, purchase a necklace today and live the magic that is Baltic amber.
