I stumbled upon the world of babywearing in 2006 when I was a nanny for 2 little girls who were adopted as toddlers. They both needed extra love and security. I needed a way to provide the
best care I possibly could. I found a handmade Mei Tai online and learned to carry the younger girl on my back. It was a lifesaver and I forged a very strong bond with those girls that helped us
all manage our days with more peace and snuggles while I could still perform other tasks around the house.
When I became a mother the following year, that same Mei Tai carried my son….and every child who has been in my care ever since.
I have continued to work as a nanny and babywearing has been an invaluable tool that has allowed me to provide the bonding, closeness and warmth that the smaller children needed while still tending to the older children, taking them on walks and playing at the park.
There have been countless occasions when I needed to carry more than one child, but have always needed to use 2 separate carriers. This can be uncomfortable and difficult to adjust properly, if you are inexperienced or don’t have the right combination of carriers.
TwinGo, ONE Carrier for TWO Babies
I love that the TwinGo Carrier can tandem carry two babies in one carrier whether twins, siblings or friends. Instead of using two separate soft structured carriers, the TwinGo Carrier has a base carrier and an attachment for the second seat.
That means only one set of straps on your shoulders and no guessing on which straps to pull to adjust!
TwinGo can be used on its own as well! If you only need to wear one baby, simply detach the attachment carrier and you have a single soft structured carrier. But wait! There’s another set of
straps?! That’s right! You can buckle the extra straps to the attachment carrier and have two separate, complete carriers! No need for one caregiver to carry both babes. If you have two adults, the TwinGo can accommodate both! In my research, I have not come across another twin carrier with this option.
Although I love to use woven wraps for tandem carrying, wraps were very intimidating to me at one time and I preferred to use anything with buckles. They are generally faster to put on and easier to adjust with little practice. The TwinGo has single adjust side release buckles at the waist and straps as well has heavy duty webbing to make buckling and adjusting simple!
Another reason I have loved soft structured carriers in the past is how easy it was to breastfeed my baby when I needed to. When wearing the TwinGo with only one baby, slightly loosen the
shoulder straps, loosen the waist just enough to lower baby to breast height and rotate the carrier to which ever side you wish to nurse on. The TwinGo hood, which conveniently rolls up when not in use, can be snapped to the shoulder strap for more privacy if desired. Please be sure to re-tighten when baby is done eating or falls asleep and bring him back up to a “kissable” position.
When not in use, each carrier can be folded right into the attached pocket for safe, easy storage!
The body of the carrier is somewhat narrow to fit taller toddlers or older children, but knee-to-knee is not as important once a child reaches that age. It may start get uncomfortable at some point, but this narrower body means you can safely wear an infant sooner since there is not an infant insert available. It would be amazing to see TwinGo offer baby/baby, baby/toddler or toddler/toddler options in the future!
Whether you need one carrier or two or you need a comfortable tandem for two babies, the TwinGo Carrier has you covered! And with a price point of only $215, this investment is a win-
