How To Organize Your #Clothdiapers

I’ve always thought the point of these posts were kind of silly. I mean who cares how another fluffy butt loving person organizes their adorable stash? That was until my little sister got pregnant and I started looking at cloth diapers through her eyes: the eyes of a novice. That’s when I thought, “Oh! I suppose it does make sense to see how other people organize their stash after all.” So here you have it, how I (Bert, the FirstTimeMom) organize my stash.
First things first we have the accessories which always go on the top of the dresser because my four year old and 20 month old like to play with the CJ’s (hello big time mess!) and Baby Bum Drops (the 20 month old likes to suck it out of the spray bottle, good thing it’s natural!).

Next we have my fitteds (which I’ve recently fallen in love with and are quickly not fitting into the little drawer I’ve assigned to them) and the nighttime diapers all in the same drawer. I did this for my hubby because when we were only using pockets I was the ones stuffing them so I knew which ones were meant to be used at night. To eliminate confusion and nighttime pee leaking from an insufficiently stuffed pocket I started putting them in the same drawer. Then once I started using more fitteds I moved those into the drawer so he knows they need a cover and can be used at night.

The drawer next to the nighttime/fitted drawer is your basic daytime use diapers. Nothing too fancy or uber impressive.

Then we have the big drawer, the mac daddy of my cloth diaper stash, the throw it all in because it’s multipurpose…The daytime diapers, inserts, doublers and cover drawer! There is a method to the organization. To the far right we have doublers and inserts, the bottom right hand corner holds covers and then the rest contains the diapers.

So what do you think? Are you totally impressed? It’s okay if you aren’t. It’s not that impressive and you know what, it doesn’t have to be. Don’t compare your organization to mine or anyone else’s; if it works for you then leave it be. If you’re looking for ideas you can always look on Pinterest and be inspired (or cry, which is what happens to me since I’m not nearly as crafty as those Pinterest-ing people are).

Elizabeth AKA “Bert” Anderson is a married stay-at-home mom of two residing in the Twin Cities. She started using cloth diapers in 2009 as a first time mom. Don’t be too impressed by her ambition, her husband told her they were doing it to save money. After a few weeks of using cloth diapers she fell in love and wants to tell anyone she meets that if she can do it ANYONE can do it! Bert loves to write about cloth diapers, being a mom, and her recently acquired healthy lifestyle on her blog First Time Mom.

I love seeing how other people organize their fluff!! Its so fun and nice to see other people have an obsession with it being “just right”
We personally organize by color vs print, fitteds and covers together, prefolds next to them, Bitti dlish in their own spot because we have 7 of them and they only get used on one child, gdiapers the same. ON diapers go up on the shelf because I only need crazy absorbent ON diapers for my 3yo my 1 year old is fine in a fitted or bitti dlish AIO

I’m not to picky, I use AI1 Pocket diapers so I do prefer after laundry to have them stuffed and ready to go. I have certain diapers set aside specifically for night time (I make my own diapers so its been easy to make it simple which ones are for night time specifically). They of course get thicker inserts, and then my regular day diapers get put separately. I don’t have drawers (just the shelves on my change table) so having them all stuffed and ready to go makes them stack easier. Plus when they are all set up they look nice too ! With baby #2 arriving in 8 weeks, I can use the same diapers that I use for my 14 month old, just with different inserts and set to a different set of snaps so we shall see how my organization goes when I have 2 different diaper stashes set up ! Thanks for this post It gave me food for thought !!!
