I woke up to Mother’s Day today and as many of you, and as I drink my coffee and look over Facebook I see many nice stories about moms being pampered, receiving gifts and going special places.
I wonder how it feels to those who aren’t in fact being celebrated today, for those whom today is just another day. Perhaps you got a “Happy Mother’s Day” or maybe not. Maybe you’re a single parent, military spouse or the mother of a demanding infant or grouchy toddler, who don’t know that today’s “the” day they say thank you for all you do.
I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that as a mom you are loved. You may not always be recognized by others, your family, or your children as being selfless, humble, giving, or for all the sacrifices you make. You naturally perform the duties, happily give of yourselves having faith that they love you and appreciate you.
I just wanted to say keep your chin up. While you may not be being showered with gifts or even a nice hot shower alone today, you’re still a hero, a hard-working, life-saving MOM.
Know that you’re not alone and that you are loved. As you probably are, I look forward to the day when my children are parents themselves and only then will they and can they fully appreciate the gifts we’ve given, the sacrifices we’ve made and the work we put in to raising them. Until then we must carry on.
Motherhood is by far the hardest job on earth. Happy Mother’s Day to you.
Smooches,
Julie
