Have I mentioned how much I love being a Yo-getter? It’s not a paying gig but well worth it. I love being challenged to cook and create, two words I rarely am able to use in the same sentence. You see, in my household my husband does all the cooking. I can cook, but I’ve managed to make it into my mid-thirties without learning the basics that go into cooking from scratch.
My husband recently challenged me to make homemade macaroni and cheese that turned out aweseome, so I decided to tweak that recipe in order to create an even tastier one that incorporates Stonyfield’s Greek Yogurt!
The Ingredients:
- Flour
- Butter
- Sharp Cheddar
- Part-Skim Mozzerella
- Stonyfield Greek Yogurt (Plain) 0% fat
- Macaroni elbows
- Mama Garlic
How to:
In a small saucepan melt two generous tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in two heaping tablespoons of flour. Add 2-3 heaping tablespoons of Stonyfield Greek Yogurt and stir. It will be much thicker than when using milk and requires more frequent stirring.
Once blended begin adding your grated cheese. I used approximately 1 cup grated part-skim mozzerella and about 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar.
Add cheese gradually and continue to mix. While stirring and adding the cheese I also then added another two heaping tablespoons of Stonyfield Greek.
Salt and season to taste. In our household we use Frontier’s Mama Garlic All-purpose Seasoning for virtually everything! But be warned, once you start using it you’ll never want to use anything else.
After your cheese sauce is nice and thick, and stringy (since we used mozzerella) you’ll then add in your macaroni elbows, which you should have prepared simultaneously to the cheese sauce so they’ll be nice and hot and ready to mix.
Mix your macaroni and cheese sauce, top with another dash of Mama Gralic and/or breadcrumbs and you’re ready to serve!

Interesting in trying the above recipe? Go for it! Keep in mind that the recipe is pretty forgiving. You can use all cheddar in lieu of the mozzerella, and you can bake the finished product for that homemade baked macaroni and cheese that everyone loves.
