You can make your own Natural Baby Food!
One of the main reasons parents don’t attempt to make their own baby food is because they think it’s complicated, requires special ingredients, equipment and skills. Truth is, making your own baby food is easy. You don’t need a ton of fancy ingredients, often you actually only need one!
I was recently sent a copy of Dr. Sonali Ruder’s new book, Natural Baby Food-Over 150 Wholesome, Nutritious Recipes for Your Baby and Toddler and I think it’s great!
At a glance-
Dr. Ruder’s book, Natural Baby Food, contains everything you need to know about feeding your baby or toddler. Topics covered include-
- When to start feeding solids
- Why choose homemade baby food
- Baby food making 101
- The 411 on nutrition for babies
- How to feed safely
- Tons of easy recipes, photos and diagrams
As a mama with kids who are well beyond the baby food age I wondered, could I make any of these baby food recipes with my common household ingredients despite the fact that I don’t have babies to feed or would I need to make a special shopping trip.
After a quick glance through the recipes I discovered I could actually make tons of the simple recipes with the ingredients I regularly keep on hand. Just to test things out I grabbed an organic sweet potato and went to work. Within no time I had make pureed sweet potato! It was flavorful, smooth, easy to make and store. No additives were needed, just sweet potato and water, breast milk or formula to get the consistency you prefer.
