Meet Bummis NEW 2017 Swim Line

I’ve always had super cute cloth swim diapers adorned with adorable fishies, sweet little beach umbrellas, or lovely flowers adorning the fabric. These diapers are so precious (especially compared to their disposable counterparts), that I often skip a swim suit altogether and just let my babies swim in their diapers and no top. But I have often wished that my swim diapers came with matching shirts for both my daughters a my son—not only as a fashion statement, but as a way to protect their sensitive skin from too much sun exposure. Some swim diapers do come with accompanying tops, and some don’t. Bummis is one of the brands that does. They sent me a cute, powder blue, flowered swim diaper (Swimmi) with an adorable, ruffly halter top to go with it—the Bummis Tankini.

Now, it’s February, so it’s really too cold to actually use the swim diaper and tankini, but it’s not too early to try it on and admire my one year old daughter’s sweet squishy cuteness as she toddles around the house with her belly button peeking out from between the two garments. Seriously, though, I only wish my body were so beach ready! The ruffles around her neck and on her bum only accentuate all her soft, rounded goodness and the powdered blue of the suit perfectly matches her amazing eyes. She is going to look so cute once she can really go outside and rock not only the adorable beach look, but the amazing functionality of the coordinating Bummis Swimmi. Actually, the day we got the Swimmi and Tankini in the mail, we happened to have weather in the mid 50s, which is abnormally warm for where we live, so I did take her outside in nothing but her Bummis swim gear and I tried to get her to lay still on a beach blanket for some pictures. What really happened is that I ended up chasing her around the yard instead. She seemed to like running around in nothing but a swimsuit in fifty degree weather. I don’t even want to know what the neighbors were thinking of my parenting skills if they happened to be watching this.

So, basically, the Bummis Swimmi and Tankini looked really adorable on my youngest daughter, but that’s not all there is to this adorable duo. In addition to being super cute, the Swimmi itself is very functional. It has two rows of snaps at the belly, and four sets of rise snaps to adjust the sizing. There are elasticized gussets at the legs and elastics at the back of the waist to make sure all those solids stay put and don’t turn your pool water into poop soup. The outer layer of the diaper is made of PUL, and the inside is lined with a soft microsuede. The entire diaper is rimmed with a soft biased tape casing of PUL. It is made of quality materials and superior construction. Swim diapers fit smaller on a baby than a normal cloth diaper because you aren’t making room for any absorbency, so this swim diaper is smaller than it’s OS diaper cover and OS pocket diaper counterparts. I found that I needed to adjust this Swimmi to the second smallest setting on my daughter, and she normally wears her OS cloth diapers at a medium or large setting.

I haven’t gotten to try this particular Swimmi in the water, but I’ve always used Bummis swim diapers before with success. They are a well-made, beautiful, and reliable brand.
If you’re looking for a good swim diaper, I definitely think the Bummis Swimmi and accompanying Tankini are a great option.

Here’s why I recommend it:

Cute prints
One size fits most diaper
A variety of size adjustments
Soft inner fabric Quality construction
Quality materials
Leg gussets

Ruffles on the bum!
It can be purchased with a matching top!

It may be February and the Groundhog may have promised more winter to come, but summer is never long behind. I cannot wait for those sunny, warm days in May when we finally pull out our wading pool and I can let my children splash the day away in our backyard. And I cannot wait to see my youngest in her cute little Tankini and Swimmi, holding her own with her big siblings in the splash pool for the first time.
