Whoever said Rome wasn’t built in a day was definitely correct! In an industry that’s quickly booming it’s awesome to find a cloth diaper brand that was dreamed up, created and is currently being manufactured right here in the USA. On May 6th the Wisconsin State Journal featured a story on the family behind Nicki’s Diapers, a cloth diaper store located near Madison, Wisconsin.
In true America fashion you have a normal, every day family, working and living average lives. That family makes the switch to use cloth, and then decides to sell a few choice cloth diaper brands. After using and selling cloth diapers, Nicki, of Nicki’s Diapers, decides to create her own diaper. If you haven’t read the story behind the popular brands Best Bottoms and Planetwise you should read the story the WSJ printed.
What struck me most while reading it was how much I appreciate buying my products from women like Nicki. I mean I don’t know how to sew at all; you should’ve seen me trying to replace the hook and loop on my first set of cloth diapers! Even though I can’t sew I could be Nicki. Why? Because the cloth diaper industry is forging ahead in the baby business by moms like Nicki. Moms like you and me. When we buy from local retail stores like Nicki’s Diapers and from work-at-home-mom (WAHM) shops we’re supporting that dream and that family. Are some of these diapers a little pricier? I guess so but the way I see it is that I’m helping out a fellow mom. While she helps protect my sweet little girl’s tushie I’m helping her put food on the table for her family. Kudos to you Nicki! And thanks for inspiring us all to see the potential of our dreams!
