Nerdy Mommas Dragon Ball Z Fandom AIO Cloth Diaper Review
I, being the lucky girl that I am, got to review yet another amazing AIO diaper, and since I am on a definite AIO kick with my cloth diapering style these days, it was truly a treat.
Nerdy Mommas offers just what you expect with the word “nerd” in the brand name: fun prints for nerdy parents who like things like Doctor Who, Warcraft, Harry Potter, and Dragon Ball Z. Now, I aspire to call myself nerdy with the Harry Potter book series being one of my favorites and having watched all the special features of every single extended version of the Lord of the Rings DVDs; but after a quick tour of the website I realized that my nerd level wasn’t nearly cool enough because I didn’t recognize most of the prints offered there. So…I think I have to officially accept that I am not a Nerdy Momma, and hand in my geek badge. :-( If you think you can pass the Nerdy Mama challenge, you should head on over and peruse the prints and see if you can name the inspiration behind each one. Needless to say, the fun and unique prints are the immediate stand out feature of these diapers. #FunctionMeetsFandom
However, the prints are not the only amazing thing about them. I was delighted to discover that everything about the Nerdy Mommas AIO was the highest quality. They fit well with good sizing options for both of my children, They’re trim, the stitching and fabrication of the diapers is top notch, the materials are sturdy and quality, the inner layer is made of all natural fibers and is very absorbent, and there are even leg gussets—not a necessary feature of a cloth diaper, but a definite insurance policy in good leak protection. The Nerdy Mommas diaper even passed the night time test for my one year old. She is no longer the super duper heavy wetter she once was, but she still needs that extra night time protection and Nerdy Mommas gave it to us with no leaks.
Now that you know the main points of why I love the Nerdy Mommas AIO, let me break down some of its best features for you: Sturdy, snapping closures: Snaps vs Velcro is really just a matter of preference. One can get a snugger and quicker fit with hook and loop closures, but they’re easy to open and don’t usually stand the test of time. Nerdy Mamas uses snaps which means that my one year old is less likely to remove her diaper and should I ever have more babies in cloth diapers one day, this diaper is more likely to still be in one, quality piece for use on a second baby.
Soft, natural absorbency. I’ve been cloth diapering a long time and my water and my washing machine tend to make microfiber stinky. Nobody has time for that, especially not this busy not-so-nerdy Momma, so I’ve ditched most of my synthetic fibers in favor of all natural ones. The bamboo and cotton, semi attached tongues of absorbency on these diapers are soft, very functional, gentle, and very, very absorbent. And because they’re all natural, they are less prone to stickiness if you have a good wash routine.
Leak protection: The home run combination of great absorbency, quality PUL, great construction, leg gussets, and functional design means that this diaper offers amazing leak protection. It’s got both quality and a good price! I’ve tried a lot of great diapers and this one ranks up there with some of the more mainstream and well known natural fibered AIO diapers. It’s a good diaper! And…the Nerdy Mommas AIO is only $17.99!!! That is such a good deal for all the function and attention to detail you’re getting in this diaper. I’ve seen diapers this quality go for nearly double this price, and for good reason. With a Nerdy Momma’s dipe, you can get your quality, nerdy print fix without breaking your bank account, or getting your hubby too frustrated at your clandestine cloth diaper purchase.
Adjustable: The Nerdy Mommas AIO has not three, but four different size options at the rise snaps. I found that this diaper fit both my 3.5 year old and my 1.5 year old well. If you have two in diapers, you know that it’s really nice to have diapers in your stash that fit both kids well. I always seemed to have three piles of diapers, his, hers, and both. The NM AIO can go in my “both” pile.
So, now that my review is done, I’ll break it down for the impatient reader Momma who is too busy to read all the words I like to use:
Pros:
Unique prints
Natural fibers
Absorbent
Soft
Quality construction
Sturdy materials
Trim fit
Leg gussets
Snaps at closure tabs
Four rise snaps
Good design
Amazing price!
Cons:
Doesn’t come in your typical owls or flowers prints. These prints are for nerds only. ;-)
Do I recommend this diaper? Absolutely and with no reservations! I’m very impressed and very eager to pass along the good news that there is yet another brand of great fitting, well-functioning, natural AIO out there for you Mommas and Poppas to try: nerdy or otherwise. So, go forth and conquer all the diapers and may the force be with you (or another fun nerdy reference that is even geekier and cooler than that since I’ve already established that I failed the nerd test)!
