Spooky Halloween Cakes you don’t have to be Martha Stewart to make!

I can’t take ANY credit for these cakes, it was ALL my husband’s work.  I personally tend to over think seasonal crafts, other than costumes.  I envision extra cost, special supplies, trips to JoAnn Fabric (which in our town is NOT the place you want to take your kids during any season, it’s like a ZOO!) and most of all, I know that when I finally make up my mind to do something, by the time I get all the stuff I need I am no longer in the mood to do any of it!

halloween cakeSeasonal baking…forget about it.  If it calls for ingredients other than flour, sugar, vanilla, etc. then the chances are that we don’t have it.

My husband is behind our intricate pumpkin carving tradition and spooky Halloween cake baking.  I must admit, these cakes did take work, just not by me!  However, they didn’t call for any pricey ingredients like shaped cake pans, fondant or fancy gadgets.  The supplies, two boxed cake mixes, some white frosting which we colored and a tube of black frosting for the details.

frankenstein cakeHe baked the cakes, used a knife to shape them and then he and my daughter frosted them.  I think they turned out super cute, almost Pinterest worthy, aside from the fact that they are made from boxed cake mixes.

So what do you think?  Did he do a good job?  Do you make any seasonal crafts or baked goods?  Have any spooky pics or links to share?

Hey there!

I'm Jenn and I am PROUD to be the new caretaker of this amazing resource. I have found a passion not only in educating about cloth diapers but also being a strong supporter of small business. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
